Whats On Your Doorstep?

So here’s a little titbit of knowledge I heard the other day:

“Over 40% of London is predicted to be obese by 2035” – http://www.londoncouncils.gov.uk

This may or may not come as a surprise… but the point is that a large part of it will be down to:

“What’s on your doorstep?”

Our city is fantastic for restaurants, night life, every cuisine under the sun, different nationalities and embassies and monuments and bridges. Everything that makes London brilliant, is a sparkling reminder of the wonderfully diverse city it is.

Even if you don’t directly live in London, this refers to your environment, and what you surround yourself with. These things are going to dictate the results you get and the expectations you put on your life.

So have a think about:

  • Where you work: the restaurants, the cinemas, the libraries (when was the last time you went to a library), shops etc…
  • The people you spend your time with: family members, work colleagues, friends, school friends, siblings… are they helping you or hindering your progress?
  • The media you associate with: Huffington Post? The News? What music do you listen to? Do you read? Play games on your phone? Scroll Instagram?

All this stuff, even the little 2 min videos we watch on social media and giggle to ourselves at 😉

Even these, are influencing what’s on our doorstep.

So what I’m challenging you to do today is to find the alternatives!

“What ELSE is on your doorstep?”

I went out the other day for lunch, and instead of going automatically for the Tesco meal deal section, I went and found a great little healthy café near me… going there every week now!

So I want you to start experiencing new things, if you’re feeling like you need a bit of a jolt.

Is there a different way you can walk to work?

Can you ask that girl or guy for their number who you’ve been meaning to talk to?

What music or podcast can you listen to?

Could you move something in your routine to a different time with a hope of meeting new people?

What different kind of class can you try at the gym or home workout?

Can you get to a different type of G Fit workout? <– had to add that one in there 😀

The possibility list is endless, and yes I’m going to end this blog with the most commonly used phrase. One that we’ve already heard a thousand times, but there IS a reason some things stick, and it’s usually because they’re true!
